Rambabu, a mechanic with a strong sense of social justice, is discovered by Ganga, a camera operator for a news channel. Recruited as a journalist, Rambabu uses the power of the media to challenge Rana Babu, a manipulative politician who is using regional sentiments to incite civil unrest and seize power.
Cameraman Ganga Tho Rambabu is a high-voltage political drama that perfectly captures the rebellious screen persona of Pawan Kalyan. Director Puri Jagannadh utilizes the 'fourth estate' as a backdrop to deliver sharp social commentary, specifically targeting the manipulation of public emotion by political entities. The first half moves swiftly, establishing Rambabu’s transition from a vigilante mechanic to a firebrand journalist with trademark Puri humor.
The second half is almost entirely focused on the ideological and physical clash between Rambabu and Rana Babu. While the plot remains thin and follows a linear path, the intensity of the dialogues and Pawan Kalyan's explosive performance keep the audience engaged. The pre-climax and climax sequences, involving a massive public movement, are designed to cater specifically to the 'Power Star' image, successfully blending fiction with real-world political satire.
Mani Sharma’s music provides a few commercial highlights, but it is his background score that truly shines, adding gravity to the film's many 'elevation' moments. The cinematography by Shyam K. Naidu is functional and raw, suiting the newsroom and street-level action vibe.
However, the film isn't without its flaws; the characterization of Ganga is often criticized for being too loud, and the narrative occasionally descends into preachy monologues. Despite these issues, the film remains a significant entry in Telugu political cinema for its bold stance on national integrity and media responsibility.
Pawan Kalyan: A powerhouse performance; his energy levels and dialogue delivery in the political rallies are the driving force of the film.
Tamannaah Bhatia: Plays a tomboyish character with high energy, though the loud nature of the role received mixed reactions.
Prakash Raj: Exceptional as the villainous Rana Babu; he brings a calculating and sinister vibe that makes the hero's victory more satisfying.
Brahmanandam: Provides essential comic relief as Bobby, the creative head of the news channel.
Strengths
Weaknesses
Puri Jagannadh delivers a typical 'hero-centric' film with a strong social message. His signature racy screenplay and aggressive characterizations are on full display, though the script lacks the depth found in his earlier works like 'Businessman'.
