📖 Story
Guru runs a home library in Vizag that holds sentimental value as his mother's favorite place. Burdened by massive debts and desperate for money to save the library, he stumbles upon a crucial clue and a pen drive containing high-stakes secrets involving a massive fortune. His high-risk chase against dangerous villains and international smugglers forms the core of the story.
Sigma arrives with much fanfare as the directorial debut of Jason Sanjay, the son of a massive star, but it unfortunately turns out to be an exhausting archaeological dig of a movie, unearthing forgotten clichés from decades past. If boredom were an Olympic sport, this film would comfortably bag the gold medal without breaking a sweat.
The first half of the film sets sail on a remarkably stationery ship where nothing of consequence happens for the longest time. We are treated to the hero's endless financial woes, a library setup that makes one wonder if Google and smartphones were banned in Vizag, and a romance track with Faria Abdullah that feels about as lively as a damp piece of toast. The interval block arrives quietly, whispering an apology for the preceding snooze-fest.
If you thought the first half was testing your patience, the second half rolls in like a majestic disaster, doubling down on logic-defying villain scenes and action blocks that seem designed purely to punish anyone sitting in the theatre seats. An item song pops up out of nowhere just in case you were starting to wonder if the film had any sense of timing left. The climax takes absurdity to Mount Everest levels, featuring a treasure-vault heist so comically silly that even the popcorn in your lap will feel embarrassed.
Sundeep Kishan sleepwalks through a routine role that demands nothing more than wearing a serious expression, while Faria Abdullah is entirely sidelined by a patchily written character. Director Jason Sanjay treats his debut less like a feature film and more like a work experience project where every dated commercial trope is enthusiastically ticked off. The dialogues and character arcs lack any emotional weight, making you wonder if the script was written using a time machine set to 1995.
On the technical side, Thaman's music offers zero sparks, with songs that make you want to check your watch and a background score running entirely on sleep mode. Krishnan Vasant's cinematography looks dusty and dated, while Praveen K.L.'s editing could have easily trimmed about two hours of unnecessary suffering to make it watchable. The production values by Lyca Productions look grand on paper, but cash poured into bad writing is just expensive confetti.
On the whole, Sigma is a monumental misfire and an outdated borefest that tests your sanity from start to finish. It works brilliantly if your sole life goal is to test how long you can stare at a screen without feeling a single human emotion. A truly memorable debut—just entirely for all the wrong reasons.
Sundeep Kishan: Puts in a routine effort in a familiar template role that offers him zero scope for freshness.
Faria Abdullah: Stuck with a poorly written, patchy role that gives her barely any screen time or impact.
Sampath Raj: Delivers his standard villain act, going slightly over the top to match the film's chaotic energy.
Raju Sundaram: Appears in a comic role that fails completely to evoke any genuine laughs.
Anbu Thasan: Tries hard to provide comic relief, but the outdated writing turns it into pure irritation.

Sigma is old, outdated and it offers nothing new. Sundeep Kishan and Jason Sanjay delivers a film that will appeal to none.
On the whole, Sigma is a below-par heist drama that fails to make much of an impact. Sundeep Kishan puts in a sincere effort, but poor writing, flawed direction, and underdeveloped characters work against the film. With little emotional depth and a stretched runtime, Sigma eventually turns into a disappointing watch.
