Stylish Looks, Confused Emotion
📖 Story
Varun, an orphan who dreams of having a peaceful family life, goes through a painful breakup with his college love Raga, who is against marriage and children. He moves on and marries Anjali, hoping to build his dream home. However, tragedy strikes when the couple realizes they cannot have children naturally. Unexpectedly, Raga re-enters Varun's life as a doctor and offers to be a surrogate mother for them. As surrogacy progresses, secrets and past emotions resurface, leading to severe misunderstandings, emotional chaos, and potential divorce between Varun and Anjali.
Telusu Kada comes across as a romantic drama that tries very hard to look modern and deep, but ends up looking like a confusing TV serial with high-end costumes. Debutant director Neeraja Kona brings a sensible idea on paper, but the execution turns into a grand display of awkward choices. Siddhu Jonnalagadda tries his best to step out of his famous Tillu persona, but watching him do intense emotional drama feels like watching an action hero give philosophy lectures. The film attempts to discuss surrogacy, breakup trauma, and relationship struggles all in one package. However, instead of making the audience feel emotional, it leaves them scratching their heads in total confusion. If you expect a fun romantic comedy, you might end up wondering who actually wrote this logic. Overall, the film struggles to decide whether it wants to be a serious mature drama or a stylish music video.
The first half begins with Varun's past heartbreak with Raga and quickly moves to establish his desire for a settled married life. He meets Anjali, falls in love, and gets married within the span of a single song. The pacing is quite fast initialy, but the real trouble starts when the core conflict of medical issues is introduced. The introduction of surrogacy feels completely forced into the story just to create dramatic twists. Raga’s sudden entry as the surrogate mother stretches cinematic liberty to its absolute limits. The engaging moments are very few and mostly rely on Harsha Chemudu’s brief comedic relief. The interval block arrives with an unusual revelation, but instead of creating high curiosity, it leaves the viewers slightly bored and detached. By the end of the first half, the movie barely manages to keep the audience invested.
The second half takes a dive into melodrama, revenge philosophy, and complex character motivations. The pacing slows down significantly as the narrative struggles to balance the triangular dynamic between Varun, Anjali, and Raga. Major twists feel artificial rather than naturally evolving from the characters' choices. The pre-climax drama gets overcrowded with unnecessary arguments and divorce discussions that feel very repetitive. Instead of building emotional weight towards the climax, the film completely loses its momentum. The ending tries to offer a sweet, sensible resolution, but the climax feels highly unrealistic and hard to digest. The audience is left confused by the lead character's strange decisions throughout the final act. In the end, the second half fails to hold the interest till the end credits roll.
Siddhu Jonnalagadda gives a sincere effort to showcase a settled performance, but his body language and dialogue delivery occasionally conflict with the soft romantic tone. Raashii Khanna looks charming as Anjali and brings good grace to her role, handling emotional scenes with decent effort. Srinidhi Shetty delivers a neat, subtle performance as Raga, carrying her modern independent character well. Viva Harsha is a major savior with his comedy and sensible screen presence. The main weakness of the film is its story and screenplay by Neeraja Kona, which lacks emotional strength and logical flow. The direction shows promise in visual presentation, but character development remains inconsistent.
On the technical front, the movie looks extremely rich and polished. Cinematography by Gnana Shekar V. S. is top notch, filling every frame with beautiful color patterns and crisp visuals. S. Thaman’s music is decent, with songs like 'Mallika Gandha' sounding good, though his background score gets overly loud in simple emotional scenes. Editing by Naveen Nooli is crisp and keeps the runtime compact, preventing the film from becoming excessively long. Production values by People Media Factory are grand and visible in every scene.
In conclusion, Telusu Kada is a below average romantic drama that suffers due to weak writing and confusing character motivations. What works well are the rich visuals, stylish production values, soothing songs, and performance of the lead actresses. What fails completely is the forced surrogacy conflict, lack of genuine emotional connection, and an overly complicated climax. If you love looking at well-dressed actors in grand houses with background music playing continuously, you might find some comfort here. Otherwise, it is better to skip this stylish confusion and save your time.
Siddhu Jonnalagadda: Gives a sincere effort to break out of his comedy image, showing maturity in emotional scenes, though his usual body language occasionally slips through.
Raashii Khanna: Delivers a sweet and graceful performance as Anjali, displaying good screen presence and emotional depth.
Srinidhi Shetty: Performs decently as Raga, bringing modern look and expressive eye gestures to her modern character.
Harsha Chemudu: Provides timely comedic relief and genuine supportive friend moments throughout the narrative.
