Forest Guard is a dubbed psychological survival thriller set against a forest backdrop. The movie attempts to blend village politics, personal betrayal, and survival drama within a dense jungle environment. While the premise has good potential, the execution feels routine at times, making it a strictly average affair for thriller lovers.

The first half focuses on setting up the characters and establishing the main plot. Mithun's call to his friends and Krishna's hunt for wild meat are introduced parallelly to build curiosity. The pacing is somewhat slow as the director takes time to establish the village rivalries and flashbacks. The pre-interval block brings the main characters into the forest and sets up a decent interval hook.

The second half picks up slightly as the survival aspect comes into focus inside the dense forest. Flashback scenes reveal the reasons behind the conflict between Mithun and the politician. However, the movie loses momentum in between due to predictable turns and a lack of high-voltage thrilling moments. The climax wraps up the central conflict with an underlying social message.

Performance-wise, Kathir does a commendable job as the forest officer, portraying fear and determination convincingly. Shine Tom Chacko delivers a solid performance in his given role, while Hakkim Shahjahan and Sudhi Koppa offer adequate support. On the downside, the lack of romantic or comedic relief elements makes the narrative feel dry at times, and character motivations in certain scenes could have been clearer.

Technically, the movie stands out mainly due to its atmospheric visual presentation. Suresh Rajan's cinematography capturing the dense forest locations is the biggest asset. Sooraj Kurup's background score complements the thrilling mood well. Manoj's editing is neat, though pacing in the middle sections could have been sharper. Production values from Bhavani Movies are decent.

Overall, Forest Guard is a watchable survival thriller that works in parts, mainly due to its performances and authentic forest visuals. However, the slow narration and lack of strong thrills hold it back from being a memorable watch. If you like quiet forest thrillers with a social message, you can give it a try on OTT, provided you do not expect high-octane action.
