Hari Hara Veera Mallu: Part 1 is a historical action epic that attempts to merge Pawan Kalyan's massive stardom with a grand period setting. The first half is relatively engaging, establishing the mythos of Veera Mallu with some well-staged action sequences, including the 'Puli-Meka' episode and the Charminar fight. Pawan Kalyan's screen presence is the driving force here, and his energy in the martial arts sequences provides a treat for his fanbase.

However, the film falters significantly in the second half. The screenplay becomes disjointed, likely due to the highly publicized production delays and change in directors. The pacing drops, and the narrative struggles to maintain emotional depth, making the transitions between historical drama and commercial elevation feel jarred. The climax, in particular, received criticism for being abruptly concluded and lacking the necessary high-stakes payoff expected from such a buildup.

M.M. Keeravaani’s music and background score are the technical highlights, providing the necessary gravitas to several scenes. While the production design and costumes successfully evoke the 17th-century era, the visual effects (VFX) are highly inconsistent. Substandard CGI in key sequences, especially those involving animals or green-screen backgrounds, often breaks the immersion, detracting from the intended cinematic spectacle.

Pawan Kalyan: Carries the film with his aura and intensity; his martial arts skills and traditional look are well-received, though his appearance varies slightly across scenes due to long filming gaps.

Bobby Deol: As Aurangzeb, he brings a menacing presence, though his screen time is limited in Part 1.

Nidhhi Agerwal: Plays Panchami; she has a decent role in the first half but becomes ornamental as the story progresses.

Sathyaraj: Provides a solid supporting performance as Sivananda, adding weight to the mentor/father figure role.
